Chemical Odor Scrubbing Tower | Acid Mist Purification Tower | Packed Bed Scrubber

Product Information

In electroplating, chemical plants, or wastewater facilities, the acidic gases and odors emitted are not only pungent but also easily corrode nearby equipment. Compared to standard physical filtration, using Chemical Odor Scrubbing often achieves a more thorough result. The equipment sprays specific chemicals inside the tower, allowing the exhaust gas to fully contact the liquid in the packed bed. Through acid-base neutralization or redox reactions, harmful gases are directly converted into harmless salts, offering highly stable removal of both odors and acid mist.

Working Principle

Odorous gas is forced into the tower from the bottom by a fan and flows upward through the packed bed. Meanwhile, a circulation pump sprays the prepared chemical solution down from the top. During Chemical Odor Scrubbing, the gas and liquid phases contact counter-currently on the packing surface, and the acidic substances or odor molecules in the exhaust react violently with the liquid, being completely absorbed and neutralized. The purified gas passes through the demister at the top, loses its moisture, and is discharged into the atmosphere, while the waste liquid falls into the tank for recirculation.

Application Fields

1.Battery manufacturing shops: absorbing dilute sulfuric acid mist from plate formation.
2.Metal surface treatment plants: purifying mixed acidic exhaust from shot blasting and pickling.
3.Fertilizer and pesticide plants: absorbing ammonia and acidic gases from granulation or reaction stages.
4.Laboratory exhaust systems: treating mixed acid-base exhaust from various chemical reagents.

FAQ

Q1: Why is such a thick layer of packing installed in the scrubber? Can't we just spray directly?
A: The packing increases the gas-liquid contact area. As the exhaust rises, the packing spreads the liquid into thin films, giving the gas and chemicals enough time to react. Without packing, the contact time is too short, and the efficiency of odor and acid mist removal drops significantly.

Q2: What material is the tower made of? Does it have to be FRP?
A: Common materials include FRP, PP, and coated carbon steel. FRP offers high strength and weather resistance, making it suitable for large outdoor towers. PP has excellent corrosion resistance and is lightweight, fitting small to medium units or high-concentration acid-base environments. Selection depends on the gas composition and budget.

Q3: Does the spray liquid (chemical solution) need to be constantly replenished?
A: Not constantly. The solution circulates in the bottom tank, but the chemicals are gradually consumed. The system is usually equipped with online pH or ORP meters to automatically control a dosing pump for replenishment. Replacement is only needed when the salt concentration or impurities in the tank get too high.
