Tank Odor Containment System | FRP Odor Control Cover | Arched Tank Cove

Product Information

Open wastewater equalization tanks and sludge thickeners often draw complaints from nearby residents during the summer due to the pungent odors they emit. Traditional covers tend to rust and degrade over time, but using lightweight, corrosion-resistant fiberglass is a different story. It lasts long, resists UV rays, and fits snugly over the tank like a giant umbrella. It locks the odors inside, allowing a negative-pressure fan to draw them directly into the downstream scrubber, completely solving the environmental headache of odor overflow.

Tank Odor Containment System | FRP Odor Control Cover | Arched Tank Cove

Working Principle

The large, arched FRP covers are hoisted onto the tank in modular sections and sealed tight to the tank walls using flanges or chemical anchors, creating a fully enclosed gas collection space above the water. The hydrogen sulfide and ammonia volatilized inside are trapped under the cover and can't escape. Exhaust ports at the top use negative pressure from a deodorizing fan to continuously draw the high-concentration odors away and send them to the purification tower. Additionally, the cover features quick-release access doors and viewing windows for routine inspections, and sludge suction pipes can pass directly through reserved holes for desludging.

Application Fields

1.Municipal regulating tanks: solving odor overflow and resident complaints from open tanks to improve the plant environment.
2.Sludge thickeners: covering and sealing to control fermentation odors and prevent mosquito breeding.
3.Chemical wastewater tanks: utilizing Tank Odor Containment to prevent the release of volatile toxic gases and ensure personnel safety.
4.Underground pump station forebays: sealing the pits to completely resolve odor complaints from the neighborhood.

FAQ

Q1: Will the gas inside expand and damage the FRP cover under high summer temperatures and direct sunlight?
A: No. The top of the cover is specifically designed with a breather valve or pressure relief port to balance internal and external air pressure. Meanwhile, the FRP material itself has good temperature resistance and won't deform or crack under normal outdoor exposure.

Q2: If the tank is very large and the span is wide, will the cover collapse?
A: Wide-span covers are reinforced internally with ribs or supported by a steel structure frame. The design accounts for wind loads, snow loads, and the weight of maintenance personnel. As long as it's installed according to specifications, safety is highly guaranteed.

Q3: After the cover is installed, how do we observe the inside of the tank or extract the bottom sludge?
A: The cover is equipped with transparent viewing windows, removable access doors (manholes), and flanged ports for sludge pipes as needed. For daily inspections, you can look through the windows; for desludging, just open the access door or connect the sludge pump pipe directly to the reserved port without lifting the entire cover.
