Traveling Bridge Sludge Collector | YQX Bridge-Type Sludge Suction Machine | Rectangular Tank Sludge Removal Equipment

Product Information

Designed specifically for rectangular settling tanks, this equipment is core gear for bottom sludge removal in water and wastewater plants. It spans the tracks on top of the tank and travels slowly, using suspended suction pipes and submersible pumps to continuously draw settled sludge from the bottom and discharge it into the collection channel. It ensures thorough, dead-zone-free sludge removal, runs smoothly, and greatly improves the settling tank's sludge removal efficiency.

Working Principle

A Traveling Bridge Sludge Collector is driven by a motor, moving back and forth along the tracks on both sides of the tank. After wastewater settles, heavier sludge deposits on the bottom. The suction pipes below the bridge sit close to the floor and use hydrostatic head or negative pressure to draw the sludge into the pipes, transporting it via a discharge main to the sludge trough. The traveling speed is kept very slow (around 0.5–1.0 m/min) to ensure thorough extraction without disturbing the clear water above.

Application Fields

1.Municipal wastewater plants: continuous suction of bottom sludge in rectangular primary and secondary clarifiers.
2.Water treatment plants: clearing and discharging accumulated sludge from rectangular settling tanks.
3.Steel and metallurgical wastewater: suctioning heavy sludge and mill scale at the bottom of settling tanks.
4.Paper and printing/dyeing wastewater: sludge collection in physical-chemical or biological settling tanks.

FAQ

Q1: Why is this Traveling Bridge Sludge Collector called a "bridge"?
A: Because its main body is a "bridge" (traveling carriage) spanning both sides of the settling tank. This structure offers a large span and strong load-bearing capacity, allowing it to move over the tank and perform sludge suction without draining the tank.

Q2: Can the traveling speed of the sludge suction machine be adjusted?
A: Yes. It is typically controlled by a VFD, with the traveling speed adjustable between 0.5 and 1.5 m/min. The slower the speed, the longer the suction pipe stays at one spot, and the higher the concentration of extracted sludge.

Q3: Does the sludge suction pump clog easily?
A: Generally not, if designed properly. The bottom of the suction pipe is usually equipped with a bell mouth or anti-clogging structure. If the sludge contains large amounts of hair or long fibers, it is recommended to install a cutting device before the pump or perform regular backwashing.
